Out of total lifting of 104.52 lakh tonne, six government agencies procured 98.43 lakh tonne for the central pool and 2.98 lakh tonne for the state pool, spokesman in a release issued here said.
He said till May 22, private traders have lifted 3,10,858 tonne which accounts for 3 per cent of total wheat lifting. PUNGRAIN procured 18, 31,142 tonne, MARKFED 23, 772,23 tonne, PUNSUP 22, 605,72 tonne, PSWC 12,00,323 tonne whereas PAIC was able to procure 11, 12,531 tonne of wheat for the central pool.
The Central Government agency FCI procured 10, 61,554 tonnes for the central pool. He added that Ferozepur district with 12,39,747 tonne of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas Sangrur district with 9,55,795 tonne of procurement was at second slot and Ludhiana district with 8,49,260 tonne of procurement ranked at third position.
