Democrats look set to sweep Republicans out of power in the US Congress on Tuesday after campaigns fuelled by worries about the future, discontent with the Iraq war and doubts about President Bush's leadership.
According to opinion polls, Democrats appear positioned to recapture control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 1994.
