An NGO today asked the Shiv Sena to withdraw a CD showing widows of debt-ridden farmers, indulging in flesh trade. |
"It is unfortunate that Sena is using the CD, which was a clipping of a news story of a private news channel showing widows indulging in prostitution in Amravati district," Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti said in a release today. |
Shiv Sena has been using this CD to highlight the plight of farmers in the region during its campaigning. The NGO said the CD contained false and misleading information. |
"Can a widow of a farmer, whose husband committed suicide after being unable to bear the financial burden, resort to such tactics," the samiti asked and stated further that it has already lodged a complaint with the Press Council of India and National Commission for Women in Delhi. |
The NGO has objected to Shiv Sena seeking votes by showing the CD during campaign which, it said, was hurting the sentiments of distressed farmers. |
