The foundation stone for the estate, coming up on 30-acre, is being laid tomorrow. About 20 companies are expected to set up ventures at the automotive industrial estate with an investment of about Rs 50 crore, said COWE president Suman Kumar.

The industrial estate would have fabrication, manufacturing heating equipment, engine valve, automobile components, battery regeneration, and automobile painting systems units. It would also have access to common facilities centre, business information centre, incubators and others, she said, adding the facility would be ready in a year.

The focus would be on training the youth, particularly women from rural areas, for employment in the estate in the initial years. Gradually, they would shift to research and development in specific areas like environment protection.

Suman said women entrepreneurs had been allotted ten per cent land at various industrial estates and SEZs by the government. In all, COWE has been allotted 90 acres in different estates.

This apart, COWE has already tied up with Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Technology Consultancy Organisation Limited (Apitco), Confederation of Indian Industry- Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to develop industrial clusters in food procession.

"There is a plan to set up a food park at Kucharam village near the automotive industrial estate. COWE is also looking to set up a unit at the Biotech Park at Karakapatla in Medak. We expect the food processing centre and biotech unit to be ready in this calender year," COWE vice-president Sandhya Reddy said.
