Workshop on cluster development

The benefits of cluster development and umbrella marketing in the textile industry were dwelled upon in detail at a consultative workshop on the 'Feasibility for Integrated Infrastructure Development for Surat Textiles Cluster' was organised on Saturday by the Textiles Committee and Ecosmart India Ltd.

The workshop was conducted in association with the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Surat Art Silk Cloth Manufacturers' Association.

The workshop was conducted under the National Cluster Development Programme for capacity building of small and medium industries so as to satisfy their needs for infrastructure facilities such as combined heat and gas-based power project, convention centre, centre of excellence, hi-tech weaving park, training centre for upcoming garment park and common effluent treatment plant.

Suketu Shah, chairman, Textiles Committee, assured the businessmen of full co-operation for the speedy implementation of various projects.
