World Bank-assisted projects will be, for the first time, reviewed outside Delhi, in Bhubaneswar, on February 24 and 25. According to a finance ministry statement, such residential reviews help in getting focused attention, encourage cross learning and sharing of best practices.
The review will be conducted by the Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs Anup K Pujari for projects funded by both International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and International Development Association. World Bank Country Director Roberto Zagha, World Bank Operations Adviser Rachid Benmessaoud and several other officials will be participating in the review.
In India, 69 projects with a total commitment of approximately $19.4 billion (Rs 89,531 crore) are under implementation. This makes it the biggest borrower of the World Bank.
