YSR forms 35-member ministry

Andhra Pradesh governor ND Tiwari on Monday administered the oath of office to 35 ministers, who were inducted into the ministry of chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Those sworn-in include 20 new faces and 15 who have served as ministers in the previous government. Guntur district received the maximum representation of four ministers, while there has been no representation from Adilabad district.

Konijeti Rosaiah is the only member of the Legislative Council who has made it to the ministry. Among the new ministers, six are women.

Four former ministers —K Jana Reddy, JC Diwakar Reddy, Kasu Krishna Reddy and R Damodar Reddy — did not make it to the ministry this time. The four have won the elections while 14 of their former colleagues besides former speaker, KR Suresh Reddy, lost their seats.

 

The names of former government chief whip, Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Congress legislator, Nadendla Manohar, have been finalised for the post of the Assembly speaker and deputy speaker respectively.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister met Congress president Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi to get her approval for the list of ministers he had prepared. Thereafter, he returned to Hyderabad by a special flight and the swearing-in ceremony of the ministers was held on the lawns of Raj Bhavan in the evening.

Reddy, who has planned to leave for Israel on Tuesday, held a meeting of his Cabinet soon after the ministers were sworn in.

The members of the new ministry are: D Prasada Rao and S Vijayarama Raju (Srikakulam district), B Satyanarayana (Vizianagaram), P Bala Raju (Visakhapatnam), P Subhash Chandra Bose and P Viswarup ( East Godavari), P Satyanarayana and V Vasant Kumar (West Godavari), Parthasarathy (Krishna), K Laxminarayana, G Venkat Reddy, D Manikya Varaprasad and M Venkataramana (Guntur), K Rosaiah and B Srinivas Reddy (Prakasam), A Ramnarayan Reddy (Nellore), R Venkat Reddy (Khammam), J Geeta Reddy, D Rajanarasimha and Suneetha Laxma Reddy (Medak), Sudarshan Reddy (Nizamabad), G Aruna Kumari and P Ramachandra Reddy (Chittoor), Shilpa Mohan Reddy (Kurnool), Ahmedullah ( Kadapa), N Raghuveera Reddy (Anantapur), D K Aruna and J Krishna Rao (Mahabubnagar), D Nagender and Mukesh Goud (Hyderabad), P Laxmaiah and K Surekha (Warangal), D Sridhar Babu (Karimnagar) and K Venkat Reddy (Nalgonda).
