YSR to resign as Andhra CM tomorrow

Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will resign as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh tomorrow.

The state cabinet will meet here tomorrow to formally recommend dissolution of the 12th Legislative Assembly as a precursor to the formation of 13th Legislative Assembly.

Rajasekhara Reddy would meet state Governor N D Tiwari soon after the cabinet meeting and submit his resignation, official sources in the Chief Minister's Office said.

The 157 newly-elected MLAs of the Congress will meet here on Tuesday evening to formally elect Rajasekhara Reddy as their leader in the 294-member assembly once again.

He will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister for a second term on May 20.

 

The swearing-in ceremony will be held as a public function at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium.

State Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy today met state Finance Minister K Rosaiah and Information Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy to discuss arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony.

No decision has yet been taken on whether or not any minister too would be sworn-in along with the Chief Minister, Congress sources said.
