The sixth phase of repatriation of Bru refugees in six relief camps in neighbouring North Tripura will commence after consultation with the state election department.

"We will consult the state election department whether repatriation before the completion of the electoral process will amount to violation of the election model code of conduct or not," Mizoram's joint secretary for home Lalbiakzama told PTI here today.

A meeting of State Level Core Committee on Bru Repatriation, chaired by Home minister R. Lalzirliana during the day decided to begin the repatriation before May 16, the date for counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls.

He said that a road-map had been chalked out for resuming repatriation of 350 Bru families during the sixth phase for which Rs 787 lakh was released by the Centre.

Rice for providing free ration to the repatriated Bru families for one year had been stocked, he said.

Arrangements were made earlier, but could not be implemented because of the announcement of the Parliamentary polls by the Election Commission.
