AAP questions BJP, Cong role in Babri Masjid demolition

BS Reporter New Delhi
Reacting to the sting operation conducted by news portal Cobrapost on the destruction of Babri Masjid, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress’ role in the demolition is questionable.

The Cobrapost exposé, which was made public on Friday, claimed the 1992 demolition was pre-planned. AAP said the sting “raises very serious questions about the role played by the top BJP and Congress leadership of that time”.

It added the BJP and the Sangh Parivar had a direct role in it. The party also accused the then prime minister P V Narasimha Rao, saying he “was not only aware about the conspiracy to demolish the mosque, but also appears to have helped the Sangh Parivar in its nefarious designs by abetting the unpardonable crime”. The AAP demanded that the two national parties clear their stand on the issue. “There are a lot of unanswered questions about the demolition and the Aam Aadmi Party is of the view that justice should be done and no guilty should be allowed to go scot-free since this crime had shaken the basic secular foundations of the country,” AAP said in a press release.
