Civil Aviation Minister and President of the Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) Ajit Singh has lost his seat from Baghpat in UP.This is one of the first confirmed results to come out of this election, with the early leads already showing a clear majority for the BJP led NDA alliance.
Ajit Singh has lost to BJP's Satyapal Singh who resigned as the Mumbai Police commissioner just before the election.
Interestingly, Ajit Singh has never lost an election since 1999 from Baghpat and this loss is a big sign of how the BJP has consolidated the dominant Jat vote in its favor.
