Demanding strict action against yoga guru Ramdev for his "honeymoon and picnic" remark against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, a social outfit today took out a procession and burnt his effigy.

Members of the SC/ST Rights Protection Maha Sangh took out a protest march and burnt Rmadev's effigy near the collector office here. The group also forwarded a memorandum to the President through the DM's office, a member said.

Meanwhile, BJP's SC/ST cell in Muzaffarnagar has also condemned Ramdev's comments and demanded an apology. Local Congress party has also criticised his statement.

In neighbouring Shamli district, secretary of local Congress, Omprakash Sharma in a meeting held yesterday said that Ramdev's comment is an insult to dalit community. Party workers demanded stern action from the state government.

While addressing a rally in Lucknow last week, Ramdev had said that Rahul Gandhi goes to dalits' homes for honeymoon and picnic. After much outrage, he later said that his remarks were "distorted and misinterpreted".
