Welcoming Centre's decision to constitute a judicial commission to probe 'snoopgate' issue, Union minister Beni Prasad Verma today demanded fast track courts to punish those guilty of demolishing disputed structure in Ayodhya and the post Godhra riots.

"After the demolition of Babri mosque, 22 years have passed. Godhra took place 12 years ago but not a single accused in these cases has been punished. Fast track courts should be constituted to ensure punishment of those found guilty," Verma said.

The Congress leader alleged that between 2002 and 2006 a number of cases of fake encounter took place in Gujarat and those responsible have not been punished.

On EC, which has censured him for his "insulting" remarks against Narendra Modi, Verma said the Election Commission was the best in the world.

"The EC has given me notice so I will practice restraint. When opposition leaders make false statements against our leaders, I get swayed away by emotions," he said.
