The BJP on Firday launched an offensive against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, questioning the capacity under which she was making statements against party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. It also raised the issue of leadership in the Congress and claimed that the Gandhi family was under siege and their leadership was under challenge.

BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitaraman who was in Gujarat to campaign for the party today was confident that Modi-led BJP and the NDA will be forming the next government at the Centre.

"The Congress party has serious leadership issues. Now that six rounds of polling is over, still the Congress is unclear about who is leading the party is it Sonia (Gandhi), Rahul (Gandhi) or Priyanka," Sitaraman told mediapersons here. "Congress' first family in under siege and their leadership is under challenge," she added.

Coming down on Priyanka, the senior BJP leaders said, "Priyanka needs to do her homework before talking about issues. I would also like to raise the question, under what capacity is Priyanka making statements against Modi. Is she Rahul's campaign manager or a Congress leader? Should the BJP reply to her statements just because she is member of the Gandhi family?"

Sitaraman said that her party is ready for engagements with a political party or any individual. "Priyanka first needs to clarify whom she represents and in what capacity is she making statements against BJP's prime ministerial candidate. Congress first needs to decide whom to project as their leader," she added.

The BJP spokesperson also took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his statement that there was no Modi wave in the country it was all created by media. "After six rounds of polling it is very much clear that removal of Congress from power is inevitable. People of the country have opted for change in government and they find alternative in the Modi-led BJP government. While the Prime Minister may say that Modi wave is creation of media, but the sheer voting turnout indicates that that there is a wave of change and it is nobody's creation," Sitaraman said.

Earlier today, Priyanka while campaigning for her mother Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Rai Bareli, she also took a dig at Modi for his 'ABCD' and 'RSVP' jibes and said he should instead tell people what he planned to do for them. She said Modi should tell people what is the situation of farmers and workers under his Gujarat development model or what had he done for women.

Priyanka had earlier this week, while campaigning for Rahul in Sitapur, took on Modi by raking up the 'snoopgate' controversy and said leaders who indulge in wrong acts against women should be 'thrown out'.
