Charging BJP with spending thousands of crores of rupees on elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said it might be ahead of Samajwadi Party in campaigning, but his party was way ahead of it in working for people.

"BJP is spending thousands of crores of rupees in campaigning on TV and newspapers through an American company," Yadav said at an election rally in Sambhal this afternoon.

"The BJP leaders who are being seen on TV have big people like industrialists, RSS and VHP behind them. They are only ahead in campaigning. Those who are created by TV are also destroyed by TV," he said.

"Our party might be behind in campaigning but we are way ahead of them as far as our performance and achievements are concerned," Akhilesh said at another election meeting in Binawar area of Badaun in favour of his cousin and sitting MP Dharmendra Yadav.

"Those who are doing work are not seen on TV, but who are doing no work are way ahead of us in campaigning," he said.

On BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Yadav said he talked about 'Gujarat model of development' but he should tell people what it was.

Referring to Modi's statement regarding lions being sent to Uttar Pradesh from Gujarat, Yadav accused him of making "wrong propaganda", saying, "We have been cheated. We were promised 10 lions, but got only six."

Without naming anyone, Yadav in an apparent reference to Amit Shah, said there was one leader who was speaking whatever absurd he felt like.

He alleged BJP was adopting communal path for power.

The Chief Minister said BJP claimed that its seat share was increasing, but it does not appear so in states like Tamil Nadu, Odisa, West Bengal or Bihar.

SP's seats would increase in every phase of polling, Yadav said and added that no government would be formed in the country without the party.

Yadav also hit out at BSP, saying while in power, it wasted people's money by erecting memorials and statues.

Taking on Congress, Yadav said when his father Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Defence Minister, no one dared to make any allegations against him, but people have lost faith in the present Defence Minister.

Talking to media persons at the helipad in Badaun, Yadav said the parties which were ahead in campaigning would be pushed back by the people in elections and SP would win maximum seats in UP.

When questioned on Shahi Imam Ahmed Bukhari extending support to Congress, he refused to give a direct reply, saying "Bukhari saheb is a respected person I will not say anything on him.
