BJP nominates Gajendra Sekhawat in Jodhpur

Congress is retaining sitting Katoch, who belongs to the royal families of Jodhpur and Himachal Pradesh's Kangra

Ending speculation about fielding someone from the royal lineage for the Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat, BJP has finally chosen Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the seat.

Ahead of his nomination, there was speculation that BJP was looking forward to field some royal candidate for the seat.

Earlier, names like Hemlata Raje, wife of erstwhile ruler of Jodhpur Gaj Singh II, Suryaveer Singh, his cousin and Dhananjay Singh, son of the energy minister of state Gajendra Singh Khinvsar of Khinvsar were doing the rounds.

"But Raje refused, Suryaveer Singh backed off later and Dhananjay Singh did not stand claim following party's decision not to field any MLA or any of his or her relative," sources in the party said.
