Criticizing Bharatiya Janata Party's decision to nominate former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yedyurappa, as a Lok Sabha candidate from Karnataka in the upcoming general elections, Congress leader and Union minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla on Saturday termed the decision of the saffron party as a cruel joke on the democracy.
"It is quite ridiculous that on one hand Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi talks of fighting corruption and then on the other hand he (Modi) doesn't hesitate to announce one of its tainted leader who was a former Chief Minister of Karnataka as its candidate," he said.
"It is quite astounding that Yedyurappa's name as BJP's candidate features right on top of the list even surpassing Modi whose name is yet to be announced from where he is going to contest the polls," he added.
Earlier, BJP had announced its second list of candidates for Lok Sabha polls in New Delhi on Saturday.
