The letter ‘T’ occupies a prime place in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto for the Telangana state.
Besides promising a ‘T’ shaped industrial corridor from Mancherial to Khammam and Warangal to Mahabubnagar, the manifesto incorporates six ‘Ts’, including the 5Ts- tradition, technology, tourism, trade and talent- envisioned by party’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, for building ‘Brand India’.
To the 5Ts, “a 6th T of transparency has been added”, state BJP president, Kishan Reddy, said while releasing the manifesto here on Friday.
Besides providing a district-wise road map for the development of Telangana, the manifesto promises setting up of agri-based industries across the state, provision of 85 per cent subsidy to solar pumpsets, creation of textile parks and establishment of a rail coach factory at Kazipet.
Recognising the sacrifices made by those who laid down their lives for creation of Telangana state, the party would give to their family members an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh or 3 acres of land or a 200 sq yd housing plot in Hyderabad.
Under the ‘Pratibha Kamalam’ programme, free laptops would be provided to top 25,000 students in the engineering CET (common entrance test) and to top 500 rank holders each in medical and MBA CET. Irrespective of their economic conditions, top 2,000 girls in engineering and medical CET will be given Rs 1 lakh as cash reward.
Congress manifesto for Seemandhra
The Congress manifesto for Seemandhra (Andhra and Rayalaseema), released on Friday, also promised free laptops for students of government colleges.
The party came up with a novel scheme of providing 100 sq yd of land to a girl child soon after her birth. Also, a house would be constructed on the site at the time of her marriage.
Besides promising waiver of loans to self-help groups, the manifesto promises to provide free power to houses that consume less than 100 units a month.
Union minister, Jairam Ramesh, who released the manifesto, said the Polavaram project, to be taken up as national project, would benefit both Telangana and Seemandhra as 80 TMC of water from Godavari river gets transferred to Krishna.
