Chanakya wins the battle of exit polls

Chanakya had given NDA 340 seats in its exit poll on May 12

On May 12, six exit polls came out with their respective surveys. Five seemed (ORG, Cvoter, CSDS, Nieslen and Cicero) reasonable with their outcomes, but the one that was outrightly rejected and laughed off was Today’s Chanakya that gave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) around 340 seats.

It gave the BJP 291 seats with a margin of 14 seats. It seems V.K. Bajaj-led Chanakya has the last laugh as the BJP has already crossed the majority mark of 272 seats. His numbers and mathematics seem to be correct on all accounts.

The survey gave the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) three seats. The Dalit party is struggling with two seats. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance was given 70 seats with a margin of nine seats. As of noon, the UPA stands at 66 seats. For the Congress, seat projection was 57 and the margin was of nine seats. The Congress stands around 50.

And this is not the first time Chanakya, which is the registered trademark of RNB Research having offices spread across Asia, Africa & Middle East, has correctly predicted the outcome.

They gave the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) 31 seats in Delhi assembly elections. The AAP won 28 seats. Chanakya, which is the political analysis arm of RNB Research, closely predicted Assam results too when it gave 75 plus seats to Congress. They claimed to have guessed the UK and US poll results correctly in the past.

V.K. Bajaj, the CEO of poll firm, said he is waiting for the final outcome before he gives his first reaction. But in a recent interview he told Business Standard,"We try to use equal quality in the sample as against the quantity. And the representation used is one of the best.”

Yashwant Deskmukh of Cvoter and Bajaj’s competitor said,“Chanakya take a bow. You took a calculated risk on the extreme higher side for BJP; and it certainly paid off. Good job. Cheers”
