Clash in Hisar: 8 injured as supporters of INLD and HJC

Stones were pelted from both side and voting had to be suspended for some time

Polling was suspended for a while in a booth in Azad Nagar area of Hisar parliamentary constituency after supporters of INLD and HJC clashed today, leaving at least eight persons including HJC candidate Kuldeep Bishnoi injured.

The incident took place in Azad Nagar area falling in Nalwa Assembly segment of Hisar, when somebody complained that "bogus votes" were being cast in a booth. This led to tension in the area.

After learning about the tension between supporters of the two parties, Bishnoi, who is seeking re-election from Hisar constituency, reached the spot. Bishnoi also received minor injuries on his finger, sources said.

Ranbir Gangwa, Rajya Sabha MP and INLD leader, claimed that Bishnoi slapped an INLD worker which aggravated the situation. However, Bishnoi denied it.

Police said that the matter was being investigated.

Meanwhile, polling in two booths at Sighran village also remained suspended for some time when the supporters of Congress, HJC and AAP clashed with supporters of INLD over some issue.

In Hisar, Bishnoi is locked in a four-cornered contest with INLD's Dushyant Chautala, Sampat Singh of Congress, who is also sitting legislator from Nalwa segment, and bureaucrat-turned-politician Y S Khyalia of AAP.
