Congress and NCP seemed to be staring at defeat in Mumbai with most of their candidates including heavyweights like Milind Deora and Priya Dutt trailing behind their Sena-BJP rivals in Mumbai South and North Central, latest trends showed.
In Mumbai South, Arvind Sawant of Shiv Sena has polled 1,45,954 votes as against Deora's 90,000 votes, at the tenth round of counting.
Acceding the losing trend, Deora said, "people want to see change. We will have to see what went wrong."
In Mumbai North, Gopal Shetty of BJP had polled 2,35,434 votes as against Sanjay Nirupam of Congress who bagged 76,835 votes.
In Mumbai North West, Gajanan Kirtikar of Shiv Sena had polled 96,497 votes as against Congress's Gurudas Kamat who got 64,495 votes.
Kirit Somaiya of BJP had established a lead in Mumbai North East polling 67,518 votes as against Sanjay Dina Patil of NCP who got 43,265 votes.
In Mumbai north central, Poonam Mahajan had polled 2,21,212 votes as against Priya Dutt of the Congress who got 96,836 votes.
In Mumbai South central, Rahul Shewale of Shiv Sena had polled 2,23,088 votes as against Eknath Gaikwad's 1,48,938 votes.
In neighbouring Thane, Rajan Vichare of Shiv Sena was leading by over one lakh votes against NCP's Sanjeev Naik. Vichare secured 2,19,914 votes and Naik polled 1,10,242.
In Kalyan, Shrikant Shinde of Shiv Sena was leading against Anand Paranjpe of NCP by over 1,40,000 votes. Shinde polled 2,16,704 while Anand got 77,169.
