Left parties would support the Janata Dal (Secular), which is contesting from two constituencies from Tamil Nadu in the April 24 Lok Sabha polls.
While the JD(S) has also decided to support the Left parties' candidates in all 18 constituencies they are contesting in Tamil Nadu, it has fielded two of its candidates from Krishnagiri and Tiruvannamalai seats.
"While we welcome the JD(S)'s decision to support our candidates, we have decided to support JD(S) candidates in Krishnagiri and Tiruvannamalai," CPI state secretary Tha Pandian and CPI(M) state secretary G Ramakrishnan said in a joint statement.

After walking out of the AIADMK alliance, the CPI(M) and the CPI decided to contest nine seats each and to consider supporting individuals of parties other than the AIADMK, BJP, Congress and DMK alliances.
While the CPI(M) would be contesting from Coimbatore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Chennai North, Dindigul, Trichy, Virudhunagar, Villupuram and Thanjavur, the CPI would field its candidates from Tenkasi, Nagapattinam, Puducherry, Tiruppur, Sivaganga, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Tiruvallur and Tuticorin.
