Anticipating a huge victory for BJP led NDA and Narendra Modi becoming the next prime minister of the country, a festive galore has been planned across the state by party worker and their supports.
Modi’s home town Vadnagar in north Gujarat is lit up as if it was Diwali in month of may. Every gate and building in the small town has been decorated with colourful lights hanging from top to bottom. The fencing around Sharmistha Lake and historic Hatkeshwar Temple too has been decorated with lights. The temple priest has kept a maha-aarti in the temple on Friday to celebrate victory of Narendra Modi.
“Modi is poised to become the next prime minister of India. The results on May 16 is just a formality. For us its Diwali in May,” said president of the Vadnagar nagarpalika Sunil Mehta. He said that every person there was excited that a boy from their town was going to become the prime minster. “We have prepared many varieties of sweets which will be distributed once the results are formally announced,” Mehta added.

In Ahmedabad, big celebrations are planned at the BJP headquarters where party workers are expected to congregate in huge numbers. All senior party members will remain present there. Meanwhile, party sources said that all district and city units have been instructed to organise celebrations at their own levels.
A prayers meeting was held in Smartheshwar Mahadev temple in Ahmedabad by lighting 300 lamps by Gujarat Gaurav fan club.
Though BJP top brass in Gujarat remained tight-lipped over what Modi was going to do on counting day, source in the party said that the Gujarat chief minister would be closely monitoring the counting process from his official residence in Gandhinagar. Later, Modi is expected to take blessings of his mother Hiraba in Gandhinagar before moving to Vadodara from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections besides Varanasi.
Modi is expected to address people of Vadodara in the afternoon and then is scheduled to address a public meeting in Ahmedabad the same evening. Modi is expected to go to Delhi in the morning of May 17 where he will participate in the BJP parliamentary board meeting. Later in the afternoon, Modi will go to Varanasi for a victory rally and maha-aarti on the banks of river Ganga.
On May 17, the BJP is also scheduled to announce the successor for Modi. BJP top brass including party president Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaitley had held a marathon five-hour meeting with Modi in Gandhinagar on Wednesday to discuss the post-poll strategy and possible constitution of the government if BJP came to power.
