FIR against Kalyan, son for violating Model Code of Conduct

A case of violation of Model Code of Conduct has been filed against former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, his son and BJP nominee from the seat Rajvir Singh besides others for holding a road show and public meeting without prior permission here.

Singh and his family members, including daughter-in-law Premlata, are accused of violation of Model Code of Conduct twice during inauguration of election offices of Rajvir Singh, official sources said here yesterday.

In one such episode in Marhara area, a case under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 171 H (relating to illegal election expenses) has been registered against a total of 14 named and 200 to 250 unnamed persons, official sources said.
 
The administration is also examining the video footage of the complaint of violation of the Model Code of Conduct at the other place, sources said.

They have been accused of holding a road show and public meeting without prior permission and violating Section 144 (Joining unlawful assembly), sources added.
