Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked people of Himachal Pradesh to make his party win by 300 seats, repeating the famous catchphrase also used by Kargil Martyr Vikram Batra "Ye dil maange more."
"Today, I ask you to make the lotus win with 300 seats because "Ye dil mange more" just like
Vikram Batra's, who gave his life for the country in the Kargil war using the same line," said Modi, while addressing a rally in Mandi.
"Today, if there is any terrorist activity in the country, be it a Maoist attack or a bomb blast, I can proudly claim that there must be at least one army man from Himachal, who would be there, fighting for the country," he said.
He also said that Himachal had everything but the right government.
"Tourism has progressed so much in the world only we are the ones lagging behind, although, Himachal has the beauty and power that can attract tourists from all over the world," Modi said.
"Himachal has everything except the right government and therefore there is need to create a strong and stable government not just in this state but in the whole country," he added.
He further said that the country had fallen into a pit because of the misdeeds and bad governance of the Congress.
"The Congress is a party of frauds. Look at their manifesto, it is full of lies. They did not keep even a single promise and betrayed the people. They kept talking about one rank one pension, but the army never benefitted from it. They lied to the people who gave their lives to protect the country," said Modi.
"The Congress has fallen into a pit and to bring India back on the right track we need a lot of power. You have given 60 years to the Congress, give me 60 months and I will mend your broken dreams. I will bring light back into your lives. I want your best wishes. I want to serve you," he said.
"This is not an election that is being contested by parties, but by the people. The people have new hopes and beliefs for the next government, and I promise you that we would not disappoint you. I will keep all promises," he added.
