The AIADMK Supermo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa today criticised Gujarat and its Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying that growth in Gujarat is "advertisement" growth, true growth is in Tamil Nadu.
In her speech at Chennai today, she said in Gujarat people living below poverty line is 16.6%, whereas in Tamil Nadu it is only 11.3%. If 1,000 kids are born in Gujarat, 38 kids die before it reaches age one.
As far food grain production in Gujarat it is only 88.74 lakh meteric tonnes, as compared to 101.51 lakh metric tonne in Tamil Nadu. Food grain production per hectare in Gujarat is only 21.4 quintal as compared to 38.5 quintal in Tamil Nadu.

Between 2011 and 2013, number of MSMEs in Gujarat was 1,20,016, whereas in Tamil Nadu it was 1,61,732.
During 2012-13, Gujarat attracted foreign direct investment of only Rs 2,676 crore, as compared to Rs 15,252 crore in Tamil Nadu.
Per capita expenditure in rural areas Gujarat is Rs 1,430 as compared to Rs 1,571 in Tamil Nadu. Per capital expenditure in urban areas in Gujarat is Rs 2,472 as compared to Rs 2,534 in Tamil Nadu.
Between 2001 and 2012 number of crimes against women in Gujarat was increased by 65% as compared to 29% in Tamil Nadu. Caste related clashes between 2005 and 2013 in Gujarat was 479 as compared to 237 in Tamil Nadu
Comparing public distribution scheme (PDS), Jayalaithaa said, in Gujarat 63% of goods, which was supposed to get supplied through PDS, is sold in black market, as compared to four% in Tamil Nadu.
"The above examples clearly shows good administrator is not Modi, but this Tamil Nadu's lady," said Jayalaithaa.
