Loksatta Party president, Jayaprakash Narayan, said he was extending support to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, as the latter was focused on generation of more and more employment avenues.
“One reason to support Modi is that he is one man who is continuously talking about creation of jobs,” he told mediapersons at an informal meeting held here on Friday.
Narayan said unemployment was a major problem in the country today. Hardly 1.5 million out of the 15-18 million youngsters who were graduating every year were able to secure job. Hence, he was supporting the person who intends to generate 100 million jobs.

According to Narayan, the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha segment, from where he is contesting, has the highest rate of literacy and better per capita income in the state. Consequently, most of the electorate in the constituency is unlikely to be influenced by money or liquor. Thus, he has the “best chance” to get elected.
Incidentally, Malkajgiri is the largest parliamentary constituency in the country with an electorate of 2.95 million.
With regard Hyderabad, he said shortage of storm water drains, drinking water and overflowing sewerage system were the three real challenges, which have to be resolved. He felt that the city would be able address these problems as it had surplus annual revenues of Rs 13,000 crore.
