LS polls: CPI declares its Kerala list

The BJP announced its second list for Kerala that includes 13 candidates

The Communist Party of India (CPI) will contest in four constituencies in Kerala --Thiruvananthapuram, Mavelikkara, Thrissur and Wayanad.

The state council meeting of the party held at Thiruvananthapuram decided the candidates list for these seats. In the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, where Congress' Shashi Tharoor and BJP's O Rajagopal are in the fray, Bennet Abraham will be the CPI nominee.

Chengara Surendran, a former MP, will contest from Mavelikkara and CN Jayadevan from Thrissur. In Wayanad, the party has decided to field Sathyan Mokeri, a former MLA.

CPI general secretary P Sudhakar Reddy formally announced the list.

Meanwhile, Aam Admi Party (AAP) has tipped journalist Anitha Prathap as its candidate from the Ernakulam constituency. Malayalam writer and activist, Sara Joseph, will contest from Thrissur from the AAP ticket.

Former state president CK Padmanabhan will be the party's candidate for Kozhikode and KP Sreeshan, party state secretary, will contest from the Thrissur constituency. National committee member, Sobha Surendran, will be fielded in Palakkad and PC Mohanan Master will contest from Kannur.
