Police has seized Rs 2.94 crore of unaccounted cash in Bathinda zone since the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Punjab for April 30 Lok Sabha polls, a senior police official said today.

"The amount was recovered from occupants of different vehicles and was to be distributed among the voters," said Paramraj Singh Umrangal, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bathinda zone.

He claimed that so far 95% licensed arms have been deposited in the respective police stations of seven districts of the Bathinda zone.

Bathinda is witnessing a multi-cornered contest between sitting SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, and Manpreet Singh Badal (Congress), Sukhbir's estranged cousin.
