West Bengal PCC president Adhir Chowdhury today said the Election Commission's decision to transfer officials caused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's plans go haywire and she should be 'arrested immediately' for her comments against the Commission.

"I feel Mamata Banerjee should be immediately arrested and sent to jail... Is it fun that she can just say whatever she feels like and make fun of the Constitutional norms," Chowdhury said here today.

"She had planned to unleash terror for the elections but with the EC's order to transfer the officials her plans have gone haywire," he alleged, referring to the spat between state Election Commissioner Mira Pandey and the state government during last year's panchayat polls.

"She thinks she can do whatever she wants to with the Election Commission of India like what she had done to Mira Pandey during last year's panchayat polls. But this time Mamata Banerjee will learn a lesson of her life," he said.

The Chief Election Commissioner's office yesterday had ordered transfer of five SPs and one district magistrate ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in the state.

The North 24 Parganas DM and SPs of Malda, Birbhum, Burdwan, West Midnapore and Murshidabad have been transferred as per orders of the CEC.

Banerjee had taken serious exception to the transfers and said she was not going to accept the order.

Chief secretary Sanjoy Mitra had written to the poll panel urging it to reconsider its decision to transfer the officials.
