Minutes after the ninth and the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections concluded, BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi thanked the voters, the Election Commission and "the social media" in a series of tweets this evening.
"India has voted! Congratulations to the people of India on the successful completion of 2014 Lok Sabha elections," he said on Twitter at around 6:30pm.

Taking a dig at Congress, he next tweeted: "Usually ruling Party sets agenda of the election but in this campaign ruling party was neither proactive nor responsive,it remained reactive."
He also reminded his followers that his agenda was always development and good governance. "NDA remained firmly focused on the agenda of development & good governance & ensured this became focal points of the entire campaign," a tweet said.
Interestingly, he also acknowledged the role of social media in his campaign. "Wherever I went it was a delight to interact with local people. Social media also helped me understand their sentiments," he said.
According to Modi, the social media also stopped the lies. "Due to social media, lies & false promises of several leaders could not go beyond the podiums of their rallies! More power to the social media," his tweet said.
Finally, Modi again cheered the high voter turnout. "Today once again India has won! The power of the ballot has won & spirit of democracy has emerged supreme," he tweeted.
