No seat sharing with JMM: BJD

Few days after announcing to go with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) for the ensuing elections, the ruling BJD in Odisha said it will go solo in the elections after the talks for seat sharing with JMM failed.

"There will be no seat adjustment with JMM though we had announced earlier. Now, BJD will field candidates in all the 147 assembly segments," BJD vice-president Kalpataru Das said. BJD on March 7 had announced its association with JMM for Lok Sabha and state assembly elections in two tribal dominated districts, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh.

Stating that BJD had agreed to enter into seat adjustment with the JMM after they gave up their demand of a greater Jharkhand state comprising some portions of three districts of the state, the BJD vice president said that the talk did not materialise.

The elections to 21 Lok Sabha seats and 147-member state assembly would be held in two phases on April 10 and 17.
