Repolling at five booths in WB records 75% turnout

The repoll followed complaints lodged by Congress, BJP and Left parties alleging rampant rigging and booth-capturing at many polling stations and malfunctioning of EVMs

Repolling at five booths in the state, which went to polls in the fifth and final phase on May 12, was peaceful today.

"Turnout in the repoll at five booths today was over 75 per cent and there was no report of any untoward incident," Assistant CEO Amitjyoti said.

The Election Commission ordered repoll yesterday at five booths in West Bengal which went to the polls on May 12 in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The repoll followed complaints lodged by Congress, BJP and Left parties alleging rampant rigging and booth-capturing at many polling stations and malfunctioning of EVMs.
 
Repolling was held at polling stations No. 82 under Asoknagar Assembly segment of Barasat parliamentary constituency, No. 145 under Haroa Assembly segment of Basirhat parliamentary constituency, No. 253 under Basirhat South Assembly segment of Basirhat parliamentary constituency and No. 225 and No. 226 under Canning East Assembly segment of Joynagar parliamentary constituency, Bhattacharya said.
