The district administration has come out with the SMS-based system to help the voters to know the number of voters in the queue at polling booths, so that they can accordingly adjust their time and reach there to cast their votes in the polls scheduled tomorrow.

This novel method by the administration, which has taken untiring efforts to create awareness among the public the need to exercise their franchise, will ensure avoiding long wait at the booths and help achieve good turn out, official sources said.

Three assembly segments-- Coimbatore South, Coimbatore North and Koundanpalayam, have been selected for this system, claimed to be the first in Tamil Nadu, they said.

The voters should sent their SMS to 092480 82864 prefixing the first English letter of the constituency---S, N or K-, to know the number of voters in the queue.
