Shashi Tharoor will be the Congress candidate from Thiruvananthapuram for the second time, as the list of probable candidates   approved by the party election committee has included his name.

KV Thomas, Union minister of state for Food and Consumer Affairs, will also get a second chance from the Ernakulam constituency.

Mullappally Ramachandran, Union minister of state for Home, from the Vatakara seat, K Sudhakaran (Kannur), Kodikkunnil Suresh (Mavelikkara), KC Venugopal (Alappuzha), Anto Antony (Pathanamthitta), MI Shanavas (Wayanad) and MK Raghavan (Kozhikode) -- all sitting MPs -- are likely to retain their respective seats, according to a high-level Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) source.

As there is a strong protest from the High Range Samrakshana Samithy and the Catholic Church over the Kasturirangan Committee report, PT Thomas, might be dropped this time.
