The Trinamool Congress continued to march ahead in 34 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal as per the latest trends, while a humiliating defeat stared at the CPI(M)-led Left Front which was trailing in all seats, except one.
The BJP is set to make impressive gains in the state, leading in two seats - Darjeeling and Asansol, while the Congress is ahead in five constituencies.
The TMC, which has 19 seats in the current Lok Sabha, has established a convincing lead in as many as 18 out of the 34 seats in which the party is ahead.

Of the TMC nominees, former Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi has taken an unassailable lead of over two lakh votes in the Barrackpur constituency.
Former Union minister Sougata Roy is leading by 1,13,027 votes from Dumdum, Ratna De Nag is ahead of her nearest rival by 1,09,337 votes in Hooghly and from Ranaghat, Tapas Mondal is leading by 1,07,441 votes.
From Tamluk, Suvendu Adhikary is leading by 1,01,359 votes. Anupam Hazra from Bolpur is ahead by 1,39,685 votes while Aparupa Poddar from Arambag is leading by 1,56,468 votes.
The BJP, though leading in two seats, is giving a good fight to the ruling party in some seats, including the prestigious Kolkata Uttar and Kolkata Dakshin constituencies.
Prominent Congress candidates who are leading include WBPCC president and Union Minister of State for Railways Adhir Chowdhury from Baharampur.
Two other Union ministers A H Khan Chowdhury and Deepa Dasmunshi are also leading from Maldah Dakshin and Raiganj constituencies respectively.
