The TRS chief also released the party’s election manifesto today which, according to him, accorded “first priority” to the welfare of minorities and weaker sections of society.
The manifesto envisages, among other aspects, a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of Muslim minorities, waiver of farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh, regularisation of contract workers and 12 per cent reservation for Muslims.
However, Shakeel Ahmed was the lone Muslim in the list of candidates released on Friday. He will be contesting from Bodhan in Nizamabad district.
Releasing the manifesto, Rao said Rs 10 lakh besides one or two jobs would be provided to the family members of those who had sacrificed their lives during the prolonged struggle for attaining separate statehood to the Telangana region.
