After succumbing to his party’s decision that he should contest from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat instead of Bhopal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch L K Advani on Sunday said he was ready for any role assigned to him after the general elections.
“I have always performed the role that my party has given to me and this time, too, I will accept any role my party assigns to me after the elections,” Advani said, while addressing a road show in
Bavla block here, which falls under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
The seven-time member of Parliament from Gandhinagar also expressed confidence in the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, saying the incumbent Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government would lose in the elections.
“This is the first-ever election where it can be felt that people have already made up their minds to throw out the present (UPA) government. There is no doubt the BJP will form the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” Advani added.
He was accompanied by aide and current MP from Ahmedabad East, Harin Pathak, denied a ticket for the 2014 general elections. Pathak has been replaced by Bollywood actor Paresh Raval.
Gujarat revenue minister Anandi Patel and Advani’s son, Jayant, were present during the road show in Bavla. Advani also told the gathering he has to campaign in other parts of the country and in his absence, son Jayant would be campaigning for him.
Advani inaugurated his election offices in Bavla, Kalol and Gandhinagar blocks, under his constituency.
