Will contest from Patliputra against Lalu's daughter: Ram Kirpal Yadav

JDU and BJP are both wooing Yadav

IANS Patna

Former RJD leader Ram Kirpal Yadav, who revolted after being denied ticket for the Lok Sabha polls, Monday said he will contest from Patliputra here against party chief Lalu Prasad's daughter.

"I will contest from Patliputra. This was decided at a meeting with my supporters," Yadav told the media here.

Yadav revolted after Lalu Prasad decided to field his elder daughter Misa Bharti from Patliputra as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) nominee.

Yadav has not said whether he will contest as an independent or as another party's candidate.

Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are both wooing Yadav.

"Both parties have offered Yadav to field him against Lalu's daughter," said a RJD leader close to Yadav.

Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said his party was in touch with Yadav.

JD-U leader R.C.P. Singh too said Yadav was welcome to join his party.

Yadav claimed Saturday in New Delhi that he was in the RJD "as of now" but leaders close to him said he might resign from the primary membership of the party soon.

Misa Bharti Sunday started campaigning in the contituency.
