Bihar assembly elections 2020: Major issues affecting the electorate
Scores of labourers from Bihar had to traverse back to their native places after the nationwide lockdown, which was imposed in March end in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, halted all economic activities.
Bihar supplies one of the largest labour forces to most parts of the country. Lack of economic development in the state has forced generations of labourers of the state to seek work outside.
However, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the labourers are now wary of going back to the states, where they were working, even as the lockdown has been eased. They are now demanding jobs from the state government. Coming at a time when the state is going for polls, the migrants' issue is going to be a big factor.

Bihar polls: People of Bihar should vote to bring in change, says Tejashwi Yadav
Prior to the start of the first phase of Bihar elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said that people should vote to bring in a change.
"Elections are democracy's festivals. The first phase of the election is going to begin in some time. I want to say to the people of Bihar to use their vote to ring in a change in this election," Tejashwi Yadav said.
"For 15 years, the incumbent government kept the youth unemployed, worsened the situation of farmers and labourers. They were not able to establish one industry in the state. Poverty was not removed and the situation of education and healthcare worsened in the state," he added.
Tejashwi Yadav said that the biggest issue in this election is unemployment.
"The biggest issue in this Bihar election is unemployment. Nitish Ji has just ignored the problems of flood, Japanese encephalitis and other problems of the people. I would appeal to the first time voters to vote for a glorious future," he said.

Bihar election Phase 1: Under our govt, Bihar's youth will enjoy 85% reservation in jobs, says Tejashwi
A day before the polls, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said that almost 85 per cent of jobs in the government sector will be reserved for local youth in Bihar if his party is voted into power.
"The young residents of the state will get the benefit of atleast 85 per cent reservation in vacancies in the state. They will also be able to avail free forms for all vacancies," Yadav said, speaking at the 'Naaukri Samvaad'.
