Postal ballots discovered in a hostel room in Badami? EC clarifies
Reports on Monday emerged about a large number of postal ballots being discovered in a hotel room in Badami. The Election Commission issued a clarification on Tuesday morning that an investigation by the Tahsildar and the Assistant Returning Officer yielded only two pages of instructions on how to exercise postal ballot but no postal ballots.
The statement noted that journalists staying at the home who claim to have seen postal ballots in the room were not able to provide evidence of the same. The letter noted that these unverified rumours violated the dignity of the electoral process during a time when officials were busy with counting.
