Postal ballots discovered in a hostel room in Badami? EC clarifies

 

Reports on Monday emerged about a large number of postal ballots being discovered in a hotel room in Badami. The Election Commission issued a clarification on Tuesday morning that an investigation by the Tahsildar and the Assistant Returning Officer yielded only two pages of instructions on how to exercise postal ballot but no postal ballots.

 

The statement noted that journalists staying at the home who claim to have seen postal ballots in the room were not able to provide evidence of the same. The letter noted that these unverified rumours violated the dignity of the electoral process during a time when officials were busy with counting.

50,000 security personnel deployed across Karnataka ahead of counting

 

50,000 police personnel have been deployed across 38 counting centres in state with 11,000 in Bengaluru alone. One Rapid Action Force (RAF) company and 20 Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) companies have also been deployed in Bengaluru.

Siddaramaiah ready to make way for a Dalit CM

Siddaramaiah surprised many by commenting yesterday that he was ready to make way for a Dalit chief minister - a possible sign that the Congress is out to win over Deve Gowda and his son HD Kumaraswamy.
