Meghalaya polls: NPP ahead in 22 seats, UDP in 7

The ruling NPP in Meghalaya was leading in 22 seats, while the UDP was ahead in seven, the Election Commission said on Thursday as the counting of votes for the assembly elections was underway.

The BJP and the Congress were leading in six seats each, while the Trinamool Congress was ahead in five and the Voice of the People Party (VPP) in four seats.

The Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) was ahead in two seats, while two Independent candidates were also leading. People's Democratic Front was leading in one seat, as per latest trends available for 55 out of 59 constituencies.

West Bengal: Congress leads in Sagardighi bypoll

Congress candidate Bayron Biswas was leading in the Sagardighi assembly seat in West Bengal's Murshidabad district where the counting of votes was underway for a by-election, according to the Election Commission (EC).

Biswas, who enjoys the support of the Left, was leading by 515 votes over TMC candidate Debashish Banerjee after the first round of counting.

Biswas bagged 5,459 votes and Banerjee got 4,944 votes, while Dilip Saha of the BJP secured 2,142 votes

Tripura Assembly polls: BJP leads in 26 seats, CPIM-Congress alliance in18, Tipra Motha 13 in latest trends

The ruling BJP was leading in 26 seats, the CPI(M) in 12, Congress 6, and Tipra Motha Party in 11 seats, as per the latest trends in the ongoing counting of votes for the Tripura Assembly on Thursday.

According to the latest data shared by the Election Commission at 10.45 am, Congress candidate from Agartala, Sudip Roy Barman, was leading BJP's Papia Dutta by 3,668 votes.

Tripura BJP president and the party's candidate from Banamalipur constituency, Rajiv Bhattacharjee, was trailing Congress' Gopal Chandra Roy.

Meghalaya Assembly elections: NPP leads in 11 seats, TMC's Mukul Sangma leading from Songsak

The ruling National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya was leading in 11 of the 59 Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya while the United Democratic Party (UDP) was leading in 5, according to the latest trend shared by the Election Commission on Thursday.

The BJP and the Congress are leading on 3 seats each while the Trinamool Congress was leading in 2 seats.

According to the data shared by the EC at 10 am, Trinamool Congress state chief and former chief minister Mukul Sangma was leading from Songsak by a margin of 457 against National People's Party's Nihim D Shira.

Meghalaya elections: NPP ahead in 17 seats, UDP at 9

The ruling NPP in Meghalaya was leading in 17 seats, while the UDP was ahead in nine, the Election Commission said on Thursday as the counting of votes for the assembly elections was underway.

The TMC was leading in five seats, the BJP and the VPP were leading in four seats each, while the HSPDP was ahead in two and the Congress in one.

Two independent candidates were also leading.

Tripura elections: BJP ahead in 13 assembly seats, Left-Congress in 6

The ruling BJP was ahead in 13 assembly seats in Tripura, the Election Commission said on Thursday morning as counting was underway for 60 constituencies.

The Congress and its partner CPI(M) were leading in three seats each, while the Tipra Motha was also ahead in five seats, it said.

Chief Minister Manik Saha was leading in the Town Bardowali seat over his nearest Congress rival Ashish Kumar Saha by 344 votes.

The EC said the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) was leading in 11 seats and and BJP in 3. The NDPP-BJP had contested the elections on a 40:20 seat sharing basis.

The ruling BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura was ahead of the opposition Left-Congress, according to early trends on TV channels.

The BJP-IPFT alliance was ahead in 25-36 seats, while the Left-Congress alliance was leading in 11-23 seats.

The Tipra Motha, led by former royal Pradyot Debbarma, was also leading in 8-12 seats, early trends showed.

Maharashtra: Counting of votes underway for Kasba, Chinchwad Assembly bypolls

Counting of votes for the byelections to Kasba and Chinchwad Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra's Pune district began at 8 am on Thursday amid heavy police security, an official said.

The bypolls for the two seats held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took place on February 26, registering an average voter turnout of 50 per cent.

The byelections were necessitated due to the death of incumbent BJP MLAs Mukta Tilak (Kasba) and Laxman Jagtap (Chinchwad).

Counting for Nagaland elections begins amid tight security

Amid tight security, the counting of votes for Assembly elections in Nagaland began across the state at 8 am on Thursday, according to the Election Commission.

The Election Commission has made adequate arrangements for the counting of votes.

Results will be declared on Thursday for keenly-fought assembly polls in three northeastern states- Nagaland, Tripura and Meghalaya. The three states witnessed high voter turnout. The BJP, which has replaced Congress as the dominant party in the northeast, is optimistic about the positive outcome in the three states.

Meghalaya Assembly polls: Counting of votes begins amid 3-tier security

The counting of votes of the Meghalaya Assembly elections has begun across 13 counting centres across the state on Thursday.

According to the Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor, three-tier security arrangements have been made with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) guarding the innermost layer and State Armed police will keep vigil over the second and third layers.

"We have 13 counting centres across the state, 12 in all district headquarters, one in Sohra Sub Division. 22 CAPF companies have been retained for purposes of ensuring 24x7 safeguard protocols in respect of the strong rooms containing the polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) of 3,419 polling stations in the 59 poll-going Assembly Constituencies and will stay on till April 4 for any post-poll contingencies/exigencies," Kharkongor said.

Counting of votes begins for 60 seats in Tripura

Counting of votes polled in the 60 assembly seats in Tripura on February 16 began at 8 am on Thursday amid tight security arrangements, a senior election official said.

A triangular contest is being witnessed between the alliances of BJP-IPFT, and Left Front-Congress, and Tipra Motha, a new outfit floated by former royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma.

A total of 25,000 security personnel have been deployed in Tripura to maintain law and order.
