Over 30% of the voters have cast their ballot in the union territory of Puducherry where polling is underway on Monday to elect the 30-member assembly, the Election Commission (EC) said.
The balloting picked up pace as voting was just over 10% at 9.00 a.m.
There are over 9.4 lakh voters in Puducherry.
Polling in Puducherry began at 7.00 a.m and will end at 6.00 p.m.
A total of 344 candidates are in the fray.
The main fight is between the Congress-DMK combine and the ruling All India NR Congress (AINRC).
The AIADMK -- the ruling party in Tamil Nadu -- is contesting the polls on its own in Puducherry.
