Recent BJP convert Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is said to have tilted the scales against the three-time incumbent Congress, leads the Twitter followers count among Assam's politicians. BJP's CM candidate Sarbanada Sonowal also has a strong following but is less popular than Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of the Congress. BJP is not getting much help from its allies in social media as Mahanta and his AGP have a token presence, while Bodoland People Front is virtually non-existent on Twitter.
