Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed: Shashi Tharoor as Congress' poor run continues

As Congress' poor run continued in the Assembly elections across five states, Shashi Tharoor said, "One thing is clear - Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed." Taking to Twitter, he wrote:  "All of us who believe in Congress are hurting from the results of the recent assembly elections. It is time to reaffirm the idea of India that the Congress has stood for and the positive agenda it offers the nation — and to reform our organisational leadership in a manner that will reignite those ideas and inspire the people. One thing is clear - Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed."

UP election result 2022 LIVE: BJP trio wins Noida, Dadri, Jewar seats again

BJP MLAs from Noida, Dadri and Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar district Thursday emerged victorious from their respective seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022, according to official results.
 
Pankaj Singh won the Noida seat with a whopping margin of 181,000 votes, while Tejpal Nagar recorded a victory with 138,000 votes, the Election Commission website showed.
 
Dhirendra Singh won from the Jewar assembly seat with a victory margin of 56,315 votes, according to the result on the EC website.

Goans have shown faith in PM Narendra Modi: Devendra Fadnavis

As the BJP has won eight seats and is leading on 12 seats in the 40-member assembly in Goa, BJP leader and Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said that Goans have shown faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
"The people of Goa have given us a clear majority. We will get 20 seats or even 1-2 seats more. People have shown faith in PM Modi", said Fadnavis.
 
Exuding confidence in forming a BJP government in Goa, Fadnavis said that Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) would also be allying with BJP in Goa along with other Independent candidates.

UP election result 2022 LIVE: BJP set for big win in Uttar Pradesh, party alliance leading in 267 seats

The ruling BJP appeared on course to retain power in Uttar Pradesh, with poll trends on Thursday showing the party-led alliance leading in 267 seats as against 127 of its nearest rival Samajwadi Party.
 
The state has 403 assembly seats and 202 seats are needed to form a majority government.
 
The trends or results for all 403 seats are available. The BJP has won five seats so far.
 
Prominent candidates who have secured a lead include Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur Urban, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal, Shivpal Yadav from Jaswant Nagar and Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Shukla from Rampur Khas (Pratapgarh).
