Nearly 210 million households owned a TV set in 2020, up 6.9 per cent from 197 million in 2018, the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) said on Thursday. The findings were part of its TV Universe Estimates for 2020.
Experts said the pandemic and need for entertainment led to the rise in TV ownership. The number of viewers also rose, touching 892 million, against 836 million in 2018 — up 6.7 per cent.
