913 wilful defaulters owe Rs 11,486 crore to PNB

Punjab National Bank (PNB), the nation’s second biggest state-run lender, on Tuesday declared a list of 913 wilful defaulters, including Kingfisher Airlines and NAFED, with total outstanding dues of Rs 11,486 crore.

PNB has added eight defaulters to its February list to take the number of wilful defaulters to 913 as on March 31, 2016. The large wilful defaulters, according to the list published by PNB, include embattled businessman Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Airlines with an outstanding of Rs 597.44 crore.

The list, however, was topped by Winsome Diamonds and Jewellery with an outstanding of Rs 900.06 crore. Forever Precious Jewellery & Diamonds had an outstanding of Rs 747.98 crore.
 
The other big defaulters include Zoom Developers with an outstanding of Rs 410.18 crore and NAFED with an outstanding of Rs 224.26 crore.

PNB in the financial year ended March 31, 2016 had made a provision of Rs 18,366.83 crore towards bad loans that led to a net loss of Rs 3,974.39 crore in FY16.

The other major wilful defaulters include Apple Industries (Rs 248.33 crore), MBA Jewellers (Rs 266.17 crore), Ramsarup Group companies (Rs 410.62 crore), S Kumar Nationwide (Rs 146.82 crore) and Rana group companies (Rs 169.36 crore).
