Accident Relief Care (ARC), a Bangalore-based organisation which provides accident relief services, in association with the United Insurance Company Limited, has launched an accident insurance product in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. |
Announcing this at a press conference, Ajay Singh, a doctor by profession who started this accident insurance scheme in Bangalore, said, "Under this scheme a victim will get medical coverage of up to Rs 1 lakh. It is not a one-time payment. If a person meets with an accident more than once in the same year, he is still entitled to get medical coverage of up to Rs 1 lakh." In the case of death due to an accident, the nominee is paid Rs 1 lakh, in addition to the medical bills. |
There are three schemes that a customer can opt for. The first scheme is an individual insurance scheme, where the premium that has to paid is Rs 365 per annum with a registration fee of Rs 85. The second is a family scheme for four, at a premium of Rs 1,350. And the third is a Rs 800 insurance policy for couples. |
ARC plans to have eight ambulances which will operate round the clock and has plans to a tie-up with about 75 hospitals and 15 diagnostic centres. |
The ARC, which was has been already launched in Bangalore has over 2.5 lakh customers and has settled medical claims of about Rs 2 crore. Apart from the medical insurance, an ARC member is also entitled for a discount of up to 25 per cent at diagnostic centres. |
Singh said, "The schemes are applicable not just in the city where the customer is registered but anywhere in the country where a customer meets with an accident." |
K Sailesh, director marketing and operations in Hyderabad, said, "ARC expects to have a base of three lakh customers in one year in the city." |
Responding to a question Sailesh said, "We are concentrating on establishing ourselves in the city and only then do we plan to expand to other parts of the country." |
