A high level team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) consisting of six executive directors would be visiting the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on Friday to understand how the premier institute is planning to contribute in the economic growth of the country. |
IIM-A has been working with ADB since 1985-86, when it had for the first time in India prepared a study on healthcare financing sponsored by ADB. It is at present doing a project with ADB as part of a network of institutes and the project is focussed on infrastructure development in the country. |
The Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) is also part of this network. |
According to an official spokesperson of IIM-A, the ADB team will interact with the faculty members and students of the institute and the discussions would focus on the most critical issues that hinder an enhanced role for the private sector in infrastructure development in India and also the role IIM-A envisages for itself in contributing to economic growth. |
Later in the day, the ADB team would also interact with the members of the Ahmedabad-based non-government organisation (NGO) Self Employed Women's Association (Sewa) before the team leaves for Bhuj to oversee rehabilitation work going on in earthquake-ravaged Kutch district. |
