Family Health Plan Ltd (FHPL), an associate of Apollo Hospitals group, has signed an agreement with Food Corporation of India (FCI) to manage and administer healthcare services to FCI's over half-a-million employees, and their dependents.

A formal agreement to this effect was signed today by Sangita Reddy, managing director of FHPL, and J Gill, FCI managing director. National Insurance Company, Chennai, has underwritten the insurance policy for the proposed services.

As part of the agreement, FHPL will facilitate medical care, claims processing and round-the-clock assistance to FCI employees stationed around 1,000 locations across the country, through a network of more than 700 secondary- and tertiary-care hospitals. "This is by far the single largest group of individuals to be administered healthcare services by any professional healthcare management and administration services company in the country," Reddy said in a release here.

The scheme will have tremendous value for FCI employees since the healthcare will be available at their doorsteps and they could avail of the facility with no anxiety of payment first and reimbursement later, the release added.
